Our Response:
Written in 1692 based on A Midsummer Night's Dream, Purcell's The Fairy Queen is filled with fairies and mythical creatures intermingling with a foursome of humans wrapped up in an impossible love tangle induced by a magical potion. The opera is a humorous, sensual and decadent celebration of drug induced misunderstandings and trickery.
